Profile on Iman Dwebi

For incoming freshman Iman Dwebi, Branson School Online (BSO), has been a perfect fit for her mind and her body. Iman, who has been a BSO student since the fourth grade, has a passion for tai-kwan-do that keeps her practicing two times a day and competing in meets at the state, national and international levels.

Iman, who loves the flexibility of online school, has her mind set on a career in the medical profession.
“I know that I need to take all the classes I can in high school to prepare for all the work that’s ahead of me in college and in medical school.”

A student in the Gifted and Talented Program, Iman likes the challenge of being told she can do more.
“I think it would be cool if I was the only high school student in the college class. I would just love that. As much as I can do before college, I need to do. I think the state will pay for about two credits in 11th and 12th grade. I might as well take advantage of that now,”
she says of her plans to graduate on schedule and maximize her time at BSO.

When asked what she likes about the online class structure, Iman said
“I think it’s amazing that there are kids of all ages in my gifted and talented classes. I even have a fifth grader in one class. I’m envious of him. I wish I could have taken some of these classes in fifth grade! Wow.”

Iman, who will be going to Florida in June to compete in the United States tai-kwan-do competition, says
“I’m really excited about going into online high school. I know that I’m going to be asked to do more, that the work will be harder and I like that.”

Buzzing with energy and more than happy to share her power point presentation on tai-kwan-do with anyone who asks, Iman says that BSO presents students with plenty of opportunities to share their successes both in and out of school.
“Last year, there was a kid who won national math completion and they posted it on the school wide bulletin board. I thought it was great.”

Also, she said,
“On the front page of the BSO website, they list all the kids who did well academically. When I saw my name, I was like wow, my name is right there!”

Applications for the 2010-2011 academic year will be available on the Branson School Online website as of March 15, 2010.
