Colorado Railroad Heritage Week, Colorado Governor Jared Polis has declared the week of June 24-30, 2025 to be known as Colorado Railroad Heritage Week. Marking the anniversary of the first train’s arrival in Denver on June 24, 1870, the week celebrates how railroads helped turn a remote frontier into a thriving state. Coloradans are encouraged to join the celebration by riding a train, visiting a railroad museum, or exploring a heritage site to marvel at the magnificent machines that steamed, chugged, and battled their way across difficult terrain—tunneling through mountains, climbing steep grades, and helping to build Colorado into the state it is today.
